	Full Metal Panic! Terminology Amalgam \| Arm Slave \| Black Technology \| Helmajistan \| Lambda Driver \| Mithril \| SRT \| Whispered Amalgam Amalgam is a highly organized global terrorist organization. Their primary funding appears comes from criminal activities such as arms smuggling and mercenary work. Though unofficially, Amalgam is likely receiving secret funding from governments seeking to fulfill their own agendas. Amalgam's primary objective seems to be global domination. To furthe this goal, they are tracking down the Whispered for their valuable knowledge of Balck Technology. Amalgam employs a retinue of mercenaries for hire, most of them ex-soldiers or deserters who have become soldiers of fortune. The most dangerous members are Amalgam's elite Arm Slave pilots, who are as ruthless as they are skilled. Combined with Amalgalm's advanced series of Arm Slaves, they are a force to be reckoned with on any battlefield. Arm Slave An Arm Slave (AS) is a bipedal heavily armored powered suit which is used as a weapons platform and a tactical communications center. The term arm slave is short for Armored Mobile Master-Slave System. The name is in reference to the AS's operating system which coordinates the pilot's (the master) movement to the AS's (the slave) motion. Most modern countries have developed their own Arm Slave model series such as the Russian Rk-92 Savage and the American M9 Gernsback. Advancement in Arm Slaves tech have made leaps and bounds with the aid of Black Technology. The newest generation of Arm Slaves imploy adavanced ECM systems and ECS optical camouflage. > For more information, use the Arm Slave Wikipedia Black Technology Black Technology is a use-all term in Full Metal Panic to explain future advances in science. Black Technology is highly valued because it can provide breakthroughs in engineering and science that may take decades for conventional R&D to accomplish. The most prominent advance from Black Technology recently is the Lambda Driver, a powerful device which appears to even defy the laws of physics. Mysteriously, the only source of new Black Technology in the world comes from the Whispered. This makes them highly sought after by various global organizations. Helmajistan Helmajistan is the name for Afghanistan in the Full Metal Panic anime. In the FMP timeline, the Russians are successful in conquering the nation, mostly due to advances in Arm Slave technology. Sousuke Sagara was a child guerilla fighting against the Russians in Helmajistan before he joined Mithril. Lambda Driver The Lambda Driver is a device created purely from Black Technology. It appears to have different uses in the Full Metal Panic anime. Primarily, it has been housed in special Arm Slaves. The Lambda Driver is used to generate tremendous forces from the impulses of the pilot in order to defend as well as attack. The magnitude of its power makes conventional ballistics and explosives obsolete. It has also been shown through the Behemoth AS that the Lambda Driver may be used to counter the forces of gravimetrics if given a sufficient power source. Operating the Lambda Driver requires tremendous concentration and willpower. Only a select few pilots have the talent to operate the device, Sergeant Sousuke Sagara is one of them. It is known that Amalgalm has developed a certain drug which allows even regular AS pilots to operate the Lambda Driver. However, since the drug is in an expermiental phase, there are sometimes dangerous side effects. Mithril Mithril is a global paramilitary counter-terrorism organization which is funded by many countries. Mithril employs a conventional rank hierarchy like any other military organization. Its soldiers are highly trained and are enlisted from various countries. Mithril sponsors its own research and development section, which is responsible for the advanced technology employed in its Arm Slaves. Mithril's objective is to maintain a balance of power in the world. One of its main enemies is Almalgalm, who seek to gain absolute power through the use of new Black Technology. For this reason, Mithril is in a constant war against Amalgam to protect the dormant Whispered. SRT SRT is an acronymn for Special Response Team. The SRT is composed of some of Mithril's elite soldiers. Each member is highly trained and has extensive combat experience. They are also expert Arm Slave pilots, which is essential since the SRT is often sent to emergency situations where they enemy has substantial firepower. Whispered The Whispered are individuals who possess knowledge of Black Technology. It is unknown how they obtained this knowledge as they seem to inherit it at birth. It has also been shown that the Whispered may be able to communicate with each other through a resonance of minds. Most Whispered are unaware of their talent and lead normal lives in society. When their ability is triggered, Whispered often go into a trance like state and verbally describe their knowledge of Black Technology. It is unknown what exactly triggers this event, and both Mithril and Amalgalm are researching the case. Dormant Whispered usually have above average intelligence and have a natural aptitude for scientific and mathematical fields. Both Kaname Chidori and Teletha "Tessa" Testarossa are known to be of the Whispered.
